this is not the dakar by Sheila Aguado & Pepe Rodríguez (2007)

Every January two rallies take to the road for a trip which starts in Europe and ends on the coast of Africa. One is the world famous Dakar race. The other is the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge, an adventure whose values are diametrically opposed to its more famous big brother.

The Challenge consists of simply driving from Plymouth (Great Britain) to Banjul (the capital of the Gambia) in cars worth less than 300 euros. In other words, to travel more than 6,000 km in old bangers with hardly any money, no road-side help but without losing their sense of humour.

The documentary, made by the first and only Spanish team taking part in the Challenge event, follows the adventures of a group of participants as they take in the beauty of the desert.
